1. No upline support.

Once a person joins a new MLM marketing program, he or she is vulnerable and needs a lot of help from something or someone.

In many cases, the uplines are not actively helping them. This happens a lot when the uplines are simply sponsoring as many people as they can with no regard to what happens to them after they get sponsored.

In most standard MLM marketing programs, it is important that the new person gets immediate assistance from somebody and or access to effective tools. Otherwise their chances for survival are very slim.

When somebody joins my Follow Our Lead team, I endeavor to get them plugged in to our support resources immediately. Sadly, many times, it is the new person that does not plug in or respond to my requests to help them.

2. New MLM marketers cannot sell.

This is probably the major reason most people do not make it MLM marketing. By using standard MLM techniques, you have got to sell and learn how to speak at opportunity meetings and the like.

I prefer to teach online methods that do not require selling. Using marketing tools available online means anybody can promote their business and not have to sell.

3. MLM’er cannot generate good leads.

Next to the selling problem, this has to be the next biggest reason most people fail in MLM marketing.

Here is a picture of what normally happens. The new person has just signed up in an exciting MLM program. He is taught by the manuals, meetings and so forth, how he should “share” his product with his friends, neighbors and relatives.

Normally, he is not comfortable with this, and if he is typical, he will have many sleepless, tossing and turning nights. He just doesn’t want to “impose” on his friends! He would feel a lot more comfortable just presenting his opportunity to strangers.

Instead of chasing family and friends, I prefer contacting other online marketers who may be seeking a business opportunity.

4. No true duplicative system.

If the MLM marketing company must be promoted through expensive methods, this is not feasible.

Learning how to sell, or to speak and conduct an opportunity meeting is just not duplicative. Only a few people can do this. Here again, is a very important reason a lot of would be MLM’ers die on the vine.

5. Selling by mail using standard MLM techniques.

The traditional way to marketing MLM is to spend all spare time to call around and travel around to get prospects. A lot of people already have full time job and it is hard to find extra time to travel and make phone calls.

This is why these MLM marketers cannot keep their program going.

6. The marketer is not sure about the MLM marketing company or service.

Often a person will sign up in a MLM marketing program in a “fit of excitement.” After the dust clears, he comes down to earth and reality slowly sets in.

Pick an established and financially sound MLM company that is at least two years old with unquestionable products or services. That way, you can feel good about the company and products that you are promoting. There is nothing quite like being able to “tell the complete truth” to your prospective customers.

7. They do not stick with it long enough.

Starting any company takes time, and this is true with an MLM marketing program as well.

By the time you study the program, write and receive literature: study this and sign up; get the literature, etc. a lot of time has been spent. And then you have to generate your leads and so on.

It will take several months before you can expect much of anything to happen to your MLM marketing. You should set in your mind that you are going to stick with this for at least sometime. That just makes good business sense.

Whether you are a small company or a large corporation one of the primary keys to success lies in preparing and following a good marketing plan. You can have the most awesome product or service to offer but without a plan in place, you may flounder for direction and waste a lot of time and energy as a result. Consider that your marketing plan, which is separate and apart from a business plan, is an essential element to the success of your company. The plan should contain data and specifics pertaining to your company’s goals, the product or service you’re offering, how you intend to market it and a means for measuring your success. Generally, larger companies create plans that are extremely comprehensive in size and nature while smaller companies will do just as well with a 5 to 10 page strategy. It’s a good idea to refer to your plan regularly so that you can track your company’s progress

What A Marketing Plan Should Include

1.) Creating an Objective:
As a strong proponent for creating an objective or purpose regarding any endeavor, I recommend starting with a clear objective for your marketing plan. Although it may mean spending a bit of time in contemplation, it’s best to be certain as to the overall purpose and objective of your company. Take some time to focus on what you really want to achieve. As an example, when I first began my consulting business while putting together a rough marketing plan, I thought long and hard as to what I intended. More than anything else, I wanted to share my skill in a positive and meaningful way. Focusing on what I felt about my expertise, I knew that I enthusiastically enjoyed the challenge of creating material that is powerful, well written and simple to read. I also relished in the idea of empowering other people so with those thoughts in mind, I created an intention that aligned with my purpose. It is as follows: “My intention as a Writer/Consultant is to fully succeed at providing my clients with high quality written material that uniquely reflects their objectives by helping them stand apart from the crowd!” That intention has taken me far on the road I contemplated many years ago.

2.) Targeting Your Audience:
Included in your marketing plan should be the strategies you intend to apply for specifically reaching your targeted market. Pay special attention as to which audience you are trying to reach. Are there particular trends in your industry? Are you aware of your competition? Are layoffs effecting your particular arena and if so is it to your benefit or detriment? Have you researched the need for your product? In other words, consider how the economy may effect people either negatively or positively when they consider purchasing your product or service? The economy does not necessarily influence some industries, but because it does effect many markets, you may want to narrow your focus.

3.) Your Strategy:
Include in your plan effective marketing strategies. Think about some of the largest companies in the world that are constantly brainstorming in an effort to keep the public’s attention. Notice how we are collectively bombarded with new commercials and announcements daily, in an attempt to make sure we never forget certain products or services. I don’t necessarily recommend that you do the same, but it does hold some weight. If you’re aren’t promoting yourself in some way, it’s easy to forget your company. Of course while most of us cannot compete with huge companies, there are many ways to promote your business without it costing a lot of money. It simply requires a bit of thought and creativity.

Since marketing is a process that never ends, have a few ideas already in place as to how you may reach your target audience. While you may hope for the day when you can sit back reaping the benefits of your efforts, you can never stop marketing. It’s a constant challenge determining various methods and tactics that will get you noticed but it can be fun.

For the majority of small entrepreneurial efforts, marketing can be a trial and error effort since some methods work for a while and then seem to dry up. Based upon my experience, when I find that one avenue isn’t bearing fruit, I simply recognize it as an opportunity to explore other avenues. For me, that primarily means getting back to basics, so I write a new article, send out a press release, begin an e-mail campaign or simply get quiet for a few days until I’m inspired. But I always have something in my plan that keeps me motivated. I suggest not putting all your eggs into one basket because if the well runs dry, you’re left with nothing. I also suggest staying open to new ideas. Very often we become set in our ways and feel afraid to veer in a new direction. You may not have considered a particular avenue until someone suggests it, so don’t say no until you’ve given it some thought.

4.) Setting Time and Accomplishment Goals:
Generally your plan should cover a period of from six months to a year. Check the plan you’ve prepared on a monthly basis as a measure for meeting your goals and objectives. Ask yourself periodically if you’ve taken all the steps that you planned? Are you within your schedule? Are you attracting the clientele you had hoped? Are you making good contacts that return or send referrals? Are you building rapport with customers? Does the plan need some rearranging or rethinking? If you find that you’re on target keep the plan as it is. But if you obviously see that something isn’t working, rethink your marketing strategies. Primarily you want the world to beat a path to your door so keeping a good marketing plan updated and refined is crucial to the success of your business. Having a roadmap to success will both keep you on track and help to maximize your outcomes.

Reciprocal links alone put them in the Million-a-Month Club. Reciprocal links, good ones, can do much more for you than any search engine ever will.

Wow Jack, that’s a bold statement, got anything to back that up?

How about the server logs of people getting over a million hits per month who did nothing more than seek out link partners and ONLY submitted to each major search engine ONCE? Would that convince you?

Well check it out. Here are two sites that use reciprocal linking almost exclusively with all other forms of advertising bringing in a relatively negligible amount of traffic. When looking at their live server log files, pay attention to the following things:

1.) Qualified traffic from reciprocal links.

Look at the Refers Report and check the section labeled ‘/’. Underneath you will find which links and search engines are sending these websites traffic.) Search engine traffic to the sites’ Link Directory pages.

In the Refers Report, find the headings that start with /links/, with the name of the Link Directory pages directory after. Search engines send lots of traffic to these pages. These pages were never submitted to the search engines!

Example 1: CTEX CD Replication holds the number one keyword placement on Yahoo for “CD replication.” How did they get there? Link popularity! Check out their live server log files at: http://www.ctexinc.com/stats/index.html

Example 2: Toolady.com is a website that has been using reciprocal links for a long time and her web site traffic was generated completely reciprocal links! In four months it became one of the most heavily trafficked bird web sites on the internet. No other form of marketing was done. Check out her server log files here:

So you tell me, are search engines the almighty savior you thought they were a minute ago?

Relevance of Your Links

Relevance has a lot to do with how a search engine robot will treat you nowadays. That’s why I always talk about the importance of building a link list or “theme index” for your site (call it a reciprocal link exchange) that closely resembles the topics or products you deal with in your site. (But not those, of course, in direct competition to you.)

Now the FFA and Link Farm people are going to be mad at me, but this is the truth!

Here’s a test. If I fail it you may publicly scorn me!

Go to any FFA page on the web and look for Yahoo.com. Try Amazon.com, or CocaCola.com… There must be TONS of their links on FFA pages – EVERYBODY knows those guys! Go ahead and check it out, I’ll be here when you get back!

Glad you’re back – how many links did you find? None? Yikes!

Now go to Altavista.com and type link:yahoo.com in the search window. What happened? Well, I just did it and it said: We found 6,670,578 results. (By the way, don’t you love how the search engine will report millions of links just like it reports none? Doesn’t it seem like they would be like “WOW, six million links!!!”)

That’s 6,670,578 links pointing to Yahoo.com!!

And not a single one from a link farm. Now don’t go getting ideas in your head about getting 6 million links. You don’t need that many to flood your site with enough traffic to keep you selling widgets, or informing the public on the effects on the ozone layer from methane gas produced by cattle.

(What? hey its late, that was the best example I could come up with! How do I know what you’re into?)

No, you need far fewer links than that to get 1,000,000 hits a month. And, with a million hits a month, how many methane gas-to-oxygen converters do you think you could sell to farmers to mount on the backs of their cows to protect the ozone layer? I’d say at least a whole heap!

There is automation software out there that people are using to drastically optimize their link lists and I highly recommend checking them out. The best and first of its kind can be found at webmastertraffictools.com.

The notable thing about forums and online communities is that you can target only those people that fit the particular demographic you’re looking for. There are online communities for about any niche where you can discuss topics about the niche you represent.

Online communities and forums are a great way for you to build a reputation for yourself and your company. Write about what you know and impress them with your range of expertise about the subject. As you do that, you will build a reputation and build trust with the people in your expertise and knowledge.

Trading links with other sites
You don’t have to spend a cent when trading links. All you have to do is to come to agreement with another webmaster. When exchanging links, the efforts both sites put forth will benefit both sites. Any traffic that goes to one site could possibly click on the link of the other site and visit that site as well. This works especially well when both sites emphasize the same niche.

Each of these methods can drive more traffic to your site for no cost to you. It will take some effort and a few hours of time. Learn everything that you can about the methods described here and you’ll soon have a site with great traffic flow without the usual costs.

Each one of these messages is all but a different version of a useful program known as an autoresponder. Autoresponders are very useful tools, as they will automatically send out an answer to any email that they receive. The answer that they send out however, will all depend on the messages that you have the program set up with. Autoresponders are very flexible, and most will hold a variety of pre set messages.

The very first autoresponders were used with email providers or email transfer agents. Whenever an email you sent out couldn’t be delivered to the recipient, it would send you an automatic response letting you know that your mail couldn’t be delivered. Although these programs were somewhat helpful, they weren’t all that sophisticated.

Over the years, autoresponders have changed quite a bit, proving to be very useful with big companies and even Internet marketing. These days, autoresponders are used by businesses and companies to give immediate response and feedback to interested clients and subscribers. This could include a response about programs, information about pricing, specific details regarding a product, and even a time that someone from the company can get in touch with the client.

In the world of Internet marketing, staying in touch with clients is easier than ever with an autoresponder. They will save you a quite a bit of time, especially when you think about how long it would take you to personally send email responses to each and every email you get. If you run a business, you probably get hundreds of emails a day. An autoresponder can simplify your life, by sending out a preset message response to each and every email you receive.

Although server side autoresponders weren’t user friendly in the beginning, they have become easier and easier to operate over the years – and are now the most popular type of autoresponder.

In all actuality, autoresponders are great to have. They are very reliable, and can easily save you a lot of time. The way the different types work can be a bit perplexing, although most are easy to use and easy to implement into your website. If you own or operate an online business – an autoresponder is something you should never find yourself without.
