Thanks for your comments, Anders. The debate of leading with the product or leading with the opportunity is about as old as the MLM industry. And, quite honestly, depending on your particular business model and marketing methods, each person can decide for themselves which way to proceed.

My personal goal is to build a long-term passive residual income, and that cannot be done on my own efforts alone. Making a product sale is great, but it's a one time thing. If I want to continue earning an income, I must continue to make another sale. If I want to increase my income, I must increase the volume of sales. Not a lot of leverage in that approach and certainly not passive. Thus, my emphasis on recruiting first. I'm looking for other business builders who also want to earn a long-term residual income.

I agree with you that understanding and having used the product is important. Without a good product, recruiting is a waste of time. I don't recruit for the sake of recruiting, rather I recruit BECAUSE I have a valuable product to share.

Very good points, especially the need to train your MLM downlines regularly in order to help them to succeed. Although I would prefer to play down the need to recruit first. Network marketing is not all about recruiting although it does play a big role and shouldn't be neglected there are other important things like product sales.

Step number 1. Recruit First?

Tell me why you think recruiting is more important than customer acquisition. I think that recruiting comes in a close second...

Understanding and having used the product that is being sold is most important to me.

Do you disagree?
